Credit card cloned after data breach on hotel website

Business reply on Google

Gianluca, thank you for your feedback. I have reviewed the information available to us and, as your reservations are for future stays and no charges have been processed by the Argonaut, I am unable to determine what prompted the service rating. I have already reached out to you directly and hope to hear back so we can better understand your concern and assist appropriately. We take guest feedback seriously and would appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation before your upcoming visit. Tony Roumph Managing Director the Argonaut [email protected]

Hotel added hidden fees and incorrect minibar charges to final invoice

Business reply on Google

Rosendo, thank you for the wonderful review and recommendation. I’m so glad you enjoyed the Argonaut’s Fisherman’s Wharf location and felt so well cared for by our team. Sharon will really appreciate the shoutout, and it’s great to hear her helpfulness stood out during your stay. We appreciate you choosing us and hope to welcome you back soon for another visit by the San Francisco waterfront. Tony Roumph Managing Director the Argonaut UPDATED RESPONSE: Rosendo, thank you for your review and for emailing me directly as well. I’m sorry for the minibar billing error, and we will remove those incorrect minibar charges. Regarding the daily fee, Expedia, like all other booking sites, is required by California law to disclose mandatory fees in the very first price shown so nothing comes as a surprise at the time of booking. I’m sorry this was not clear from your experience, and I appreciate you bringing it to our attention. We’re grateful that your initial impression of the Argonaut was a 5-star one, and I’m sorry the final invoice changed your overall experience. Thank you again for reaching out directly so we can help make this right. Tony Roumph Managing Director the Argonaut

Hotel charges for parking not disclosed prior to check-in

Business reply on Google

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Parking in San Francisco, especially along the waterfront, is expensive, and we understand that can be frustrating. Our valet parking rate is listed on the major booking channels, and parking cost is also mentioned in past guest reviews, but we are always happy to suggest nearby self-parking alternatives when guests ask before or during arrival. Many guests choose the convenience of pulling directly up to the Argonaut’s entrance for valet, while others prefer to park elsewhere in Fisherman’s Wharf. We appreciate you considering the Argonaut and hope the rest of your time in San Francisco was enjoyable. Tony Roumph Managing Director the Argonaut

Hotel refused to honor a $200 voucher for a late check-in.

Business reply on Google

Adam, thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m glad the location worked well for your trip, but I’m sorry the delayed room and arrival experience made the start of your stay frustrating. A room not being ready until the evening is not the standard we aim for, and I understand how disappointing that would feel when traveling with friends. I’m glad our team worked to provide options and ultimately got you into the original room, though the communication throughout that process should have been clearer and more organized. I also want to clarify the $200 voucher. The voucher was issued for use in the restaurant during your stay. Had we intended it as a room credit or refund, we would have made that adjustment directly on the folio rather than issuing a voucher. I’m sorry that distinction was possibly not explained more clearly at the time, as I can understand how the lack of clarity created frustration at checkout. Your comments about the room condition and snack drawer have also been shared with our housekeeping and front office teams. A delayed room should still be fully inspected and guest-ready when released, and I appreciate you bringing that detail to our attention. Thank you aga

Hotel refused refund for cancelled booking despite flight change.

Business reply on Google

Kayleigh, thank you for sharing your feedback. I understand your travel plans changed, however the reservation selected was a non-refundable rate through a third-party booking site, with those terms clearly outlined at the time of purchase. Non-refundable reservations are offered at a lower rate because they do not include the flexibility to cancel or receive a refund after booking. For future travelers, we encourage booking a flexible rate plan directly with the Argonaut when travel plans may change. Our flexible rate allows penalty-free cancellation up to 48 hours prior to arrival, and cancellations inside that window result in a one-night penalty rather than the full cost of a non-refundable reservation. We understand travel disruptions can be frustrating, and our team does its best to be helpful while honoring the specific rate plan and cancellation terms chosen at booking. We appreciate the opportunity to clarify this and hope it is useful for travelers comparing hotel options in San Francisco. Tony Roumph Managing Director the Argonaut

Hotel charged resort fee for non-existent amenities and view

Business reply on Google

Marge, thank you for your feedback. I’m glad to hear you found the room comfortable and appreciated our location. I do want to clarify the daily amenity fee concern, as it is important that this is understood accurately. Under California’s price transparency law, mandatory fees must be included in the first advertised room rate shown, rather than added later as a surprise charge. That is how our rates are displayed and charged. The fee was not hidden, added after the fact, or charged in excess of the total price due for your reservation. Regarding the room view, our base category courtyard rooms are clearly described as internal-facing rooms. While they do not offer exterior city or bay views, they are priced accordingly and are a great choice for guests who prefer a quieter room away from street noise that is also cost effective. For guests who place a higher priority on views, we recommend booking one of our upgraded view categories. For in-room coffee, we offer coffee makers and kettles upon request at no additional charge, and we also provide high-quality coffee and tea in the lobby each morning. I regret that this was not made clearer during your stay. We appreciate you choosi

Unable to make a reservation due to phone system issues

Business reply on Google

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear you had difficulty reaching us while trying to make a reservation. We do have team members available by phone 24/7 at 415-563-0800, so I regret that this was not your experience. While there are occasionally connection or call-routing issues outside the hotel’s control, we are always happy to assist directly. Please feel free to call us again, and a member of our team will be glad to help. Looking at your recent reviews it appears this was an issue within the last week you experienced with another business as well. Hopefully we can get this sorted and welcome you in the future. Room not as described, missing amenities, and cleanliness issues

Business reply on Google

Ilya, thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. You were assigned a room on the west-facing side of the hotel, positioned directly toward the Golden Gate Bridge, which is one of the most iconic views we offer at the Argonaut. From that same side, guests can also look toward the Hyde Street cable car turnaround, another distinctly San Francisco sight. We understand that not every guest values those features the same way, but this is absolutely a marquee side of the hotel rather than a misleading placement. I do want to apologize for the toilet condition you encountered upon arrival. That is unacceptable and not reflective of the standards we expect from our housekeeping team. To clarify a few other points, robes and slippers are not standard in our guest rooms outside of suites, though we are always happy to provide them complimentary upon request. As for breakfast, our menu does not promise a traditional preparation beyond listing “frittata” with spinach, mushroom, and goat cheese as one of several available breakfast options. If those ingredients or that style of preparation did not appeal, there were other dishes on the menu as well as many nearby breakfast options

Hotel refused to change reservation date due to illness

Business reply on Google

Craig, I’m truly sorry to read about your experience and to hear how frustrated you are. Falling ill right before a trip is incredibly disappointing, and I do understand how stressful that situation can be. When a reservation is made and prepaid through a third-party booking site, the payment and cancellation terms are set and processed directly by that provider rather than through the Argonaut. In those cases, we unfortunately do not have access to the funds or the ability to modify, refund, or transfer the reservation. The best course of action is to contact the booking company directly, as they control both the payment and any changes to the reservation. For future travel, booking directly with the Argonaut allows us far more flexibility in assisting with unexpected changes and ensures there is no third party between us and our guests. Our team is always happy to explain rate options, including more flexible cancellation policies, so guests can choose what works best for their travel plans. We are located at the west end of Fisherman’s Wharf, directly across from Ghirardelli Square, and take great pride in providing a welcoming, service-focused experience in one of the most desi

Overpriced hotel with hidden amenity fee and poor location

Business reply on Google

C S, I am genuinely sorry to read how disappointed you were with your stay. It’s clear we did not meet your expectations, and for that, I truly regret the experience you described. I’d like to address a few of your concerns directly. Regarding pricing transparency, Expedia is actually the one booking channel that displays taxes and mandatory fees within the very first total price shown before checkout. That said, if for any reason the $37 daily amenity fee was not clearly disclosed during your booking process, I would sincerely appreciate the opportunity to review your confirmation. Please feel free to email it to me. If something was not properly communicated, I will absolutely work to make it right on Expedia’s behalf. As for the location, we are situated at the west end of Fisherman’s Wharf, directly across from Ghirardelli Square. Many guests appreciate being within walking distance of the waterfront and near the Golden Gate Bridge, though we understand that some travelers prefer a quieter or less active neighborhood. Afternoon street noise can occasionally occur in any vibrant urban waterfront area. In situations like yours, one of our courtyard rooms — which face inward and a

Hotel refused refund or reschedule for last-minute cancellation

Business reply on Google

Jade, thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and I’m truly sorry for the stress and disappointment surrounding your plans—especially with your baby being ill. That’s never an easy situation, and I completely understand how upsetting it must have felt while you were dealing with so much at once. I also regret that the response you received came across as cold or inflexible. When reservations are made through third-party sites such as Expedia, we are unfortunately bound by their policies and limitations, which can restrict what our team is authorized to do at the property level. That said, I’m sorry we weren’t able to offer a more compassionate solution in that moment. If and when you’re ready to plan your visit to San Francisco, I would genuinely welcome the opportunity to assist you directly. Please feel free to reach out to me personally at [email protected] . I’d be happy to work with you on a great rate and ensure you’re well taken care of for a future stay at the Argonaut. I hope your baby is feeling better, and I appreciate you sharing your feedback. Hotel refused refund for trip cancellation due to son's illness

Business reply on Google

Margaux, I’m truly sorry to hear about your experience and the unfortunate circumstances that prevented your trip. We completely understand how disappointing it must have been to have your plans change so unexpectedly. While we do our best to honor all reservations fairly and in accordance with the policies agreed upon at booking, we did make an exception in your case and did not charge the full penalty. We genuinely regret that the situation caused additional stress during an already difficult time and hope your son is feeling much better. Business reply on Google

Thank you for your feedback. We're very sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating this must have been. While we are unable to identify your reservation based on the username alone, we take concerns like yours seriously and would like the opportunity to look into this further. Our system does automatically generate confirmation emails once a booking is successfully completed—if those were not received, there may have been an issue with the contact information provided at the time of booking. That said, we did hold multiple rooms under your name, which prevented us from reselling them, and it appears a refund was still issued as a gesture of goodwill. We would appreciate the chance to speak with you directly to better understand the full context of your experience. Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] so we can assist further. Business reply on Google

Thank you, Robert, for sharing your thoughts and including photos—those visuals do help give context to your experience, and we appreciate the time you took to post them. I’d like to clarify a few points to ensure there's no confusion for future travelers. You booked one of our Cityview rooms, which are typically just $10–15 more than our Courtyard rooms. This upgrade includes a larger footprint, windows that open, and views of our surrounding neighborhood—ideal for those who enjoy a bit more natural light and a connection to the vibrant Fisherman's Wharf district just outside. It sounds like your expectations may have aligned more with one of our suites, which feature deep soaking jetted tubs and separate glass-enclosed showers, along with enhanced square footage and more luxurious bathrooms. Our standard rooms, including Cityview, do not advertise spa-style baths, so there may have been some confusion there—we’re always happy to clarify features in advance. The sofa pictured in your room is actually part of our multi-million-dollar refresh completed this past spring, which also introduced new shower glass doors, updated furnishings, and refreshed finishes across all our rooms and

Overpriced and difficult valet parking, with safety concerns in the area.

Business reply on Google

Thank you again, Robb, for your thoughtful review and for sharing your photos—which beautifully capture the vibrant energy of Fisherman’s Wharf. It’s clear from your images just how lively, safe, and welcoming our neighborhood truly is, with visitors from all over the world enjoying the waterfront, local attractions, and iconic San Francisco charm just steps from our doors. While we respect your perspective, we’d like to gently note that Fisherman’s Wharf remains one of the safest and most family-friendly areas in the city. Incidents of crime or visible homelessness are extremely rare in our immediate surroundings, and we’re proud to be part of a community that prioritizes both safety and hospitality for locals and visitors alike. Regarding parking, we understand valet service can feel tight—particularly for full-size SUVs in an urban setting. While we don’t offer self-parking on-site, our team is always happy to recommend two secure public garages located within a block of the hotel for guests who prefer to park independently. We’re pleased that our team, your Golden Gate Bridge view, and the hotel’s character left a positive impression. Thank you again for staying with us—we hope

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I’m pleased to hear that our front desk team provided you with a warm and welcoming arrival, I’m very sorry to learn that the rest of your stay did not meet expectations. Our cityview and bayview rooms do feature windows that open, which many guests prefer, and we encourage reaching out to our team during your stay so we can assist in finding the best room fit. We also provide complimentary bottled water at the front desk, along with assistance for any connectivity or in-room concerns, as we want every guest to feel at ease. Business reply on Google

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. I’m very sorry to hear that your experience at the Argonaut didn’t live up to your expectations. We pride ourselves on offering a warm and welcoming environment to all travelers—families, couples, and solo guests—and it’s disappointing that you left feeling unsatisfied. I do notice that many of your past reviews for other businesses reflect similar concerns. While we welcome feedback of all kinds, we are always eager to address any issues in real-time, had we been made aware. If we had known about any noise disturbances, room comfort concerns, or maintenance issues during your stay, our team would have done everything possible to address them right away, including offering a room move or solutions such as mattress toppers or bed boards. Business reply on Google

Mel, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m very sorry to hear that your stay fell short of expectations, and I appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention. Regarding the additional charges you referenced, I’d like to clarify that the daily amenity fee is included in the very first price shown at booking, as required by law, and covers amenities such as unlimited bottled water from the front desk and a daily \$15 credit to use at the Blue Mermaid restaurant. Since you booked through Priceline, your room and tax are prepaid, with the amenity fee due at check-in. If Priceline did not clearly disclose this in your confirmation, please feel free to forward me your booking details, and I would be glad to refund the amenity fee as a courtesy for their oversight. I also understand your concern about parking — parking in San Francisco can be expensive, which is why we offer special parking packages with real savings when booking directly through the Argonaut.
