Business reply on Google

We’re sorry to hear about this experience and understand how frustrating that must have been, especially given the time you spent in the store trying to get answers. We regret that the warranty details weren’t clear before your purchase. If this hasn’t already been resolved, we’d be glad to help escalate your concerns to our leadership team for review. Please send your contact information and a brief summary of the situation to [email protected], and someone will be in touch to follow up.

Business model criticized for negatively impacting local independent resellers.

Business reply on Google

Thank you for sharing your perspective. We understand there can be misconceptions about how Goodwill operates, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify. Revenue from donated items directly supports our mission and helps employ more than 1,200 Goodwill team members across the Greater Charlotte area. Those funds also support job training programs, career coaching, and wraparound services that help people overcome barriers to employment and build long-term stability. Our retail operations exist to fuel these mission programs, not executive profit. Every donation and every purchase helps create access to employment opportunities and critical support services for individuals and families in our community. If you’re interested, our website includes detailed impact metrics and financial information. We’re always happy to help answer questions.

The store does not answer their phone.

Business reply on Google

We’re so sorry for the frustration you've experienced, David. Our team works hard to assist customers in-store, which can sometimes delay answering calls. It’s also possible you were calling an outdated number, as we recently updated our contact information online. We apologize for the confusion. If you’d still like to reach someone at the store, you can reach The GRID at (704) 969-0787. We appreciate your patience and understanding!

misleading trade policies and defective laptop with failing battery

Business reply on Google

We’re sorry to hear about your experience. To clarify, The GRID does not offer cash or trade-in for games or electronics. We rely entirely on community donations, which we process and either recycle responsibly or sell when in working condition. Because our inventory is donation-based, it can vary daily, so we encourage you to check back often for specific items like gaming laptops. Regarding returns, we do accept items back for store credit, and you can view our full return policy here: https://thegridgoodwill.com/about-the-grid/our-return-policy/. Thanks for providing this feedback as we are always looking for ways to improve.

The business charges high retail prices for donated items.

Business reply on Google

We appreciate your feedback and understand that pricing can be a concern. Our goal is to price items fairly based on their quality and condition, while supporting our mission to provide job training and employment services in the community. Every purchase helps fund that work. We’ll share your input with our team and continue working to offer value to all our shoppers. Thank you for stopping by.

The business is accused of deceptive pricing and excessive executive compensation.

Business reply on Google

Hi Chris. We didn't delete your previous review. We actually don't have the ability to do that. So if your original review isn't showing up anymore, it's because someone reported it to Google, and then Google decided to remove it based on the validity of the report. Also, what you claim in this review is entirely false. We help thousands of people in our community every year access the job training and job search help they need to find employment so that they can better support themselves and their families - and we offer all of this training and job search help absolutely free of charge. We strongly encourage you to read some of our success stories so that you can see what the money we make in our retail stores helps fund: https://goodwillsp.org/who-we-are/success-stories/.

Prices are too high and vintage audio inventory is missing.

Business reply on Google

We're sorry our prices didn't meet your expectations. The money we make from selling donated goods goes directly towards helping others. Here are just some of the services we're able to offer free of charge, thanks to the community's donations and purchases: career training courses (IT training courses, Construction & Trade training courses, Customer Service training courses, computer training courses, a Warehouse/Inventory/Logistics training course, an Adult Basic Education course), job search support, family stabilizing services and more. Because the money we make goes directly towards helping others, we try to get the most out of our sales while still remaining fair to our shoppers.

Staff refused service and were rude regarding mask policy enforcement.

Business reply on Google

Hi Chris. We're sorry you didn't have a good experience while shopping at The GRID. In an effort to keep everyone safe, we're requiring that our team members and shoppers wear masks at all of our stores following Governor Cooper's mandate. That being said, if a shopper is unable to wear a mask due to health reasons, our team members have been instructed to let those shoppers proceed in our stores without a mask. We're sorry that we failed to follow through on this exception to our mask policy - we'll be following up with our team at The GRID. Thanks for bringing this to our attention and helping us improve. Stay safe!
