business performed inspection despite knowing the vehicle would fail

Business reply on Google

Thank you Honorio for the review. All of the items you failed on the inspection would not have been readily seen until we started the inspection. We also had a very detailed phone conversation with you, thoroughly going over what we were going to inspect on your vehicle, and you were very adamant you fixed everything and should pass.

The business charged significantly higher prices for an inspection than competitors.

Business reply on Google

We appreciate your feedback. While we respect every customer's right to shop around, we have found that disagreements about price are often resolved more effectively by choosing a different provider rather than by leaving a one-star review for a service that was never performed. We wish you continued success in your search for a professional inspection at one-tenth of the market rate.

The business charged excessive fees for diagnosis and repair services.

Business reply on Google

Thank you for the review Isaac. Our diagnosis rate is very competitively priced. The quote for $5000 was not just for control arms and brakes. When leaving a negative review, lets at least tell people the entire story. The $5000 estimate included us replacing both front lower control arms , the ball joints, front struts, rear shocks, sway bar end links, alignment, front brake service, and some lights. Everything but the brake pads were OES from the dealer due to the year, make, and specific model of the vehicle you have. We would also be ~ $2000 for only the items you mentioned. Good luck with your repairs!

Business damaged vehicle trunk latch and charged extra for retesting.

Business reply on Google

Thank you for the review Jim. It clearly states on our repair order for the Brake and Lamp inspection "Any reinspection performed after 30 days from initial inspection will be subject to a full brake & lamp reinspection at full price". The $80 you mention is only for reinspection within the first 30 days and is also clearly stated on the repair order. I did not open the trunk of your vehicle, nor was I aware it was open when I left for the test drive. I pulled over once I realized it was open and closed it for you. Nothing appeared broken then, nor did you say it was when you called the last time to complain about the failures on your inspection.

The shop falsely claimed bulbs were inoperative to charge for repairs.

Business reply on Google

Thank you for the review. It is possible you have an electrical issue or a connectivity issue. Definitely wouldn't be the first time a vehicle has came in and the lights didn't work when I first inspected it and then worked when they came back, without the customer replacing a bulb. The difference however was the customer was honest, without playing any games, and I passed them without charging a reinspection fee. Not worth my time, or my integrity, to try to scam my customers. Sorry to hear you think that way.

Unprofessional staff behavior and excessive charges for unnecessary services.

Business reply on Google

I have to first ask, are you sure you have the correct shop? I have no record of ever having a Michael Cappy in my shop. The Brake and Lamp inspection includes a visual inspection of all brake and lamp components. The state requires we complete the inspection once we have started, regardless of any failures found.

The business is accused of dishonest billing practices.

Business reply on Google

Good morning Jonathan. I'm sorry but I don't see that we have ever even serviced one of your vehicles. Can you provide more details on when you were at my shop and the problems you had? I'm wondering if maybe you are leaving the review for the incorrect shop...... this wouldn't be the first time that has happened.

Staff stole personal items from the customer's vehicle.

Business reply on Google

Hi Yolanda. You are leaving this review for the wrong repair shop. The owner of our business is not named Adolfo, nor has it ever been. We also do not have a mechanic by that name. We have never serviced your vehicle either. I believe you have us confused with another shop . Could you kindly remove this review and leave it for the correct shop.

The shop charged for an unnecessary re-inspection fee.

Business reply on Google

Good Morning! Thank you for your review. I would love to give a response as to why we failed you for the BRAKE and light inspection but I see you are posting anonymously and with such vague details I am unable to look up your repair order. Yes, we charge the going rate in our area of $145 to inspect the vehicle. Yes, we charge a reinspection fee when the vehicles return because we have to again spend time inspecting your vehicle. This was explained to you before you signed the paperwork and left your vehicle with us. Hope you have a great day!

Customer charged twice for inspection with questionable additional repair claims.

Business reply on Google

Hi, thanks for the review! Since I do not have your full name I cannot look up your repair order to provide a full break down of why we charged you the way we did. I can however say we DID NOT charge you $120 because of 3 more lights being out. According to your statement you failed for both the brake and the lamp inspection for which there is a $30 each reinspection fee if you return the vehicle within 30 days. That alone is $60, half of what you state we charged you on your second visit. Not knowing what lights were out it is feasible that we charged another $60 for 3 light bulbs and the labor to install them. Next time it might be nice to leave the full facts in your review before slandering a business. Thank you and have a great day!

Vehicle became inoperable following a routine smoke check service.

Business reply on Google

Good Afternoon Vida, As we explained when you were in our shop, the problems you are experiencing have nothing to do with the SMOG test we performed. Especially given the complaint started three days after we did your SMOG test. We did tell you had the problem started immediately we would have glady checked your vehicle out for you. However, given the time frame, and the fact our SMOG test and your complaint likely have nothing to do one another we would charge for diagnosis. Thank you and I hope you have a great day!

customer was charged twice for a smog check due to policy

Business reply on Google

Your assumption that all smog check facilities offer the same "free retest" is incorrect. We apologize if this was unclear to you, but you were informed that our shop's policy is this: unless the necessary repairs are performed here at our facility, we do NOT offer free re-tests for smog checks. This is especially true for older vehicles, such as your 93 Mustang, that requires the smog technician to spend another 40+ minutes to re-test. For free? I don't think so.
