Continental Van Lines, Inc., Agent for Mayflower Transit, has apologized for failing to perform to this customer’s satisfaction. We have communicated openly and honestly throughout this move and have made great effort to resolve her complaints which, unfortunately, are based mainly on hearsay, exaggeration, and false expectations. An unavoidable mechanical breakdown caused a 2-day delay. Continental maintained communication with the customer during this time and provided options and guidance. The shipment delivered to a mini storage as the customer did not want to pay for professional storage. There was NO promise to wrap and pad furniture before placing into mini-storage (though this appears to have remained the expectation). The sales person explained there would be an extra cost for that specialized service which was refused. There is clear, documented evidence that he suggested that paper pads could be “draped over furniture surfaces to protect from scratching while being stacked and unstacked.” Nonetheless, the customer demanded that the driver wrap and pad her furniture at origin. The driver refused but was aware of the draping commitment and took a large number of paper pads
