Shop performed unnecessary repairs and failed to fix the vehicle issue.

Business reply on Google

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are sorry to hear you feel disappointed. Your 2021 Cadillac arrived with multiple unrelated concerns and diagnostic trouble codes. On June 16, we diagnosed and repaired the emissions-related fault that was causing the Check Engine Light to illuminate. To date, that code has not returned. On June 23, we diagnosed and replaced the failed battery current sensor, and those related fault codes have also not returned. During our testing, we also documented that the aftermarket battery installed in the vehicle had been damaged by a prolonged electrical drain. We recommended having the battery replaced under its AutoZone warranty, as the battery condition was continuing to trigger battery-related warnings on the vehicle's digital display. While you were at our facility, AutoZone confirmed by phone that the battery should be exchanged under warranty. That warranty replacement has not yet been completed. We understand it can be frustrating when a vehicle has multiple issues occurring at the same time. Our responsibility is to accurately diagnose each concern, explain our findings, and recommend the appropriate repairs. We stand behin

Incomplete diagnostic service led to unnecessary repair recommendations and wasted fees.

Business reply on Google

The shop performed testing on your 2002 Volkswagen Beetle. The test result, sadly, determines the internal failure of the transmission. We inquired with multiple vendors who supply us with quality replacement transmissions, including Volkswagen of America and Volkswagen Direct in Germany. The replacement transmission is discontinued and no longer available from US-based or global Volkswagen warehouses. At that time, we gave you three trusted transmission shops that might entertain rebuilding your existing transmission (A service we do not offer). Ultimately, we went above and beyond the testing we performed to confirm your failure. Most would consider this a 5-star performance by a stand-up business trying to help their clients.

Overcharged for repairs and failed to diagnose the actual engine issue.

Business reply on Google

Arch Nemesis AKA: Robel Tesfaye, Thank you for your feedback, but your review does not reflect what actually occurred during your visit. Your vehicle arrived with a complete no-start condition. Our diagnostic process identified a failed charging system, including a leaking battery, severely corroded cable, failed alternator, and worn belt, all of which were documented with photos and shared with you before any work was performed. You approved these repairs. We completed the work, verified proper operation, applied your AAA discount, and provided a nationwide 3-year / 36,000-mile warranty. The check engine light you referenced is unrelated. When a battery fails, the vehicle’s computer resets and must complete drive cycles before identifying any additional issues. That is standard across all vehicles. Accurate diagnostics, proper repairs, and documented communication are the opposite of “guesswork” or “greed”—they are what ensure the job is done correctly. If you would like to discuss this further, we are available to review all documentation with you.

The air conditioning repair failed to resolve the original odor issue.

Business reply on Google

Thank you for your feedback, I truly appreciate you bringing this to our attention. I completely understand your frustration, and I sincerely apologize for the oversight. This is not the level of quality or attention to detail we strive to provide. To be transparent, the glove box does need to be removed to access the evaporator and perform the antimicrobial treatment for musty A/C odors. Unfortunately, after the service was completed, the glove box was not reinstalled during our final quality check before the vehicle was parked for pickup. That was a miss on our part, and I take full responsibility for it. When you returned, we corrected it right away. I also understand that a comment made during your visit didn’t come across professionally, and I apologize for that as well. Regarding the odor, it can sometimes take a few days for the treatment to fully neutralize any remaining bacteria. However, if you’re still noticing any smell, I would really appreciate the opportunity to make this right. We’re happy to perform a second treatment at no cost and ensure the concern is fully resolved. Please contact me directly, I’ll personally handle everything and make sure you’re taken care of

Mechanic recommended unnecessary repairs and charged high prices.

Business reply on Google

We take feedback seriously, which is why accuracy and context matter, especially for anyone reading this review to decide where to service their vehicle. The facts are important: • In 2022, you brought in a 2004 Hyundai with over 205,000 miles that needed repairs to pass California emissions in order to register the vehicle. One of the required components was obsolete and unavailable, including from wrecking yards. Rather than turning you away, we went above and beyond by repairing and restoring the existing component so the vehicle could legally pass emissions. • In 2023, you returned for additional age and mileage-related failures, which were necessary repairs for a vehicle of this vintage. • After each visit, you confirmed 100% satisfaction during our documented post-repair follow-up calls. There were no unresolved issues, no disputes, and no expressions of dissatisfaction at the time of service. Now—four years after the original repair and without any recent visit or concern raised, a one-star review is posted, referencing a song lyric rather than any current, factual service issue. That timing and content make this review misleading and disconnected from the actual service pro

High repair costs failed to resolve the original vehicle issue.

Business reply on Google

Thank you for your feedback. The concern was caused by failed engine and transmission mounts, not the work performed. We verified the issue through inspection and video evidence and explained that mounts are not covered by your aftermarket warranty. You approved the necessary repairs, which required lifting the engine and transmission assembly. After repairs, drivability improved about 80%, though minor shift flares remain—common for this transmission type. Full correction would require transmission replacement. Unfortunately, your warranty only offers a flat $2,500 coverage, leaving significant costs to the owner. We stand behind the repairs and the diagnostic process completed.

Excessive labor charges for engine mount replacement

Business reply on Google

We appreciate your feedback and want to clarify the details of your service. Your repair included the replacement of the engine mounts, transmission mount, and secondary transmission mount and secondary transmission mount, totaling $583 in parts. The labor for these services was $1,622, bringing the total for this portion to $2,205. Additionally, we provided air conditioning system services and testing totaling $357, sales tax was $48 for a grand total of $2,610. Understanding that it was imperative for you to have your vehicle back the same day, we assigned two technicians to work on your car simultaneously. This allowed us to complete the extensive repairs within the same day, rather than the 12+ hours it would have taken with a single technician, ensuring you could get back on the road as quickly as possible. We always strive to accommodate our customers’ needs while maintaining high-quality service and efficiency. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out—we’d be happy to discuss them with you.

Shop provided inflated quotes and falsely claimed a repair was needed.

Business reply on Google

It seems there may have been a misunderstanding regarding your repair estimate. Your quote for a premium power steering pump, installed with a 3-year / 36,000-mile nationwide warranty, was $886. We also recommended a complete system flush for $138 to remove any potential metal filings from the failed pump, bringing the total to $1,024. When you asked if we could lower the price to match another quote, we let you know that deferring the flush would bring the total to $886 for the pump alone. This was a simple adjustment that we could make with a quick update to the estimate. Additionally, we provided you with detailed, full-color digital pictures showing the real-time leak from your power steering pump as well as a separate leak from your steering gear. You acknowledged receipt of these pictures. If another shop informed you that your steering rack was not leaking, they may have overlooked or underreported the actual condition of your vehicle. However, we also discussed that replacing the steering gear was not an immediate priority—you had the option to defer that repair until the leak worsened or until it started affecting steering performance. Our goal was to give you clear option

Mechanic attempted to upsell unnecessary repairs and performed poor quality service.

Business reply on Google

Claire Green, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We take pride in delivering Five Star service and strive to ensure every customer has a positive experience with us. You requested a 120,000-mile service for your 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser, which included an inspection and evaluation for recommended maintenance intervals and any actual failures. As we discussed, this was the first time we serviced your vehicle, and many maintenance items are determined by time and mileage, which depend on your vehicle's service history. Similar to how a doctor uses patient history, a quality shop builds a vehicle profile to ensure longevity, aiming for your vehicle to reach 250,000 miles or more. We provided you with a detailed digital inspection, including our recommendations based on time and mileage, and included digital images showing the condition of the components that required attention. During our discussion, we were not made aware of any previous repair history that could have helped us build a comprehensive profile of your vehicle. It's crucial to share this information upfront to ensure the best care. We have extensive experience servicing FJ Cruisers and Toyota vehicles. If another mecha

The vehicle repair failed to resolve the engine power loss issue.

Business reply on Google

Thank you for your feedback. We strive to provide excellent service and accurately diagnose vehicle issues, as we did with your car. However, we understand your decision to decline certain repairs. As we discussed, your clutch is completely worn out, significantly affecting your car's drivability. You mentioned it was replaced two years ago and chose not to have it repaired at this time. We emphasized that the car's current state, due to the clutch issue, limits our ability to fully diagnose any potential underlying problems that could trigger the check engine light. Our recommendation remains the same: replace the clutch, clear and reset the computer monitors, and address any underlying issues identified by the system. This comprehensive approach will ensure your car operates as intended. Thank you for understanding, and please let us know if you have any further questions or if we can assist you with the recommended repairs.

Defective brake installation caused safety concerns and wasted customer time.

Business reply on Google

We are glad to hear we were able to get rid of your creaking noise and accommodate your time restraints. We can assure you the quality of the NAPA rotors and Centric Ceramic brake pads will exceed your expectations. We agree that the brake's material and the transfer to the disc rotor were the root cause of this noise. The brakes were always safe, just a noise which has no direct effect on safe braking.

Excessive charges for parts and labor on coolant hose repair

Business reply on Google

Keunsoo Roh To recap our conversation. We replaced one hose under the engine's intake manifold, which you approved. In addition, we discussed inspecting any other hose under the intake; while we had it dissembled, there were none. The repair price for parts & labor was $ 1,508. You are correct; a single exterior hose from BMW is generally around $ 700. Your example of one coolant hose replacement is like comparing apples to watermelons based on the location of your actual failure. We removed the entire upper intake manifold to access the failed hose, which was a major repair. We provided stellar service. Your BMW was towed to us on Friday with a coolant leak. We inspected, sourced the leak under the intake, ordered parts, and completed the repair under our estimated time of two days. We saved you considerable money and downtime from BMW and provided a three-year / 36,000-mile nationwide warranty (versus BWM 1 year). Test drove after repairs 12 miles to provide exceptional quality control and assure no underlying problems due to the coolant loss. We feel we provided a 5-star service to you and are sorry you do not see the value in our complete service.

The coolant leak was not repaired after a costly service visit.

Business reply on Google

Elizabeth, Thank you for allowing us the opportunity on 1/21/2022 to recheck your vehicle and concerns. I know we were both happy to find there were no further external coolant leaks, and even though we cleaned up from your original coolant leak, there must have been some residual. We are also frustrated with the global supply problem, and automotive parts are no exception. I know we had to order your parts out of Los Angles, which tied up your vehicle waiting. Our hands are tied, and we do not have a way around this ongoing parts supply problem. Thank you for being so understanding.

The business overcharged for an oil pan replacement and labor costs.

Business reply on Google

Billy Huynh, We are sorry you feel this way. We strive to share all of the information about your vehicle so you can make informed decisions, and we don't take shortcuts here. Our pricing reflects our extra value, attention to detail, and our nationwide warranty. We don't ever want our clients to have their car broken down and on a tow truck. The good news is your insurance company accepted our industry-standard estimate and will be reimbursing you directly (less your deductable).

mechanic recommended unnecessary repairs for a minor power steering leak

Business reply on Google

Michelle Sawaya and Anthony, We are sorry you do not feel our complete digital inspection and pictures that we put together and sent for your review are not enough evidence of the failures. Specifically, in your power steering system, you do have four active leaks of different levels. In reviewing the photos taken for transparency, we see all four leaks as described. The pressure hose is leaking, the Return hose is leaking, the steering pump is leaking from the front shaft, and the Rack & Pinion are leaking from a failed tube. The rack is serviced as a complete replacement assembly. You may replace just the one hose and slow down the loss of power steering fluid, but that would not be considered a satisfactory repair. Once you repair a leak and restore the pressure to the entire system, the other leaks will significantly increase and create a domino effect. Many automotive components have a time and or mileage replacement, whichever occurs the first type of maintenance schedule which we would follow regardless of the age of the vehicle. If we did not and something we should have recommended failed, we would feel horrible for withholding the recommended maintenance items. These are

Shop charged diagnostic fee for repair they could not perform.

Business reply on Google

Sara Mationg, As you have stated and was explained to you by our staff, CARMAX extended warranty (like most warranty companies) requires you to authorize the base diagnosis of $ 120 for the time spent diagnosing your vehicle. Only after we perform our testing and determine the exact root cause of the failure can we call them for approval under the terms of your extended warranty. If they decline, or the vehicle is under some manufacturer's standard or extended warranty, they will require you to return it to the manufacturer. We do not have this information until we complete our testing and know the exact failure point. Your warranty company does not accept Google searches for unverified repairs. We have to provide them with actual test data from your car. It may not be the actual part that has failed but a circuit failure that would not be the manufacturer's covered item.

Overpriced repair quote and rude staff behavior

Business reply on Google

I understand how frustrating it is to get a phone call that your vehicle needs unplanned emergency repairs. Your Honda uses an aluminum oil pan, which is a soft metal. When the technician removed the engine oil drain plug, the last of the threads came out with the drain plug, making the oil pan non-useable. With 172,000 Miles considering that the recommended oil change service interval is 3,000 miles, your car would have had approximately 57 oil changes where the oil drain plug was removed and replaced. Each time the service is done, the female aluminum threads in the oil pan wear until at some point they failed and necessitate the replacement of the oil pan itself at $750.00 While the replacement is the recognized proper repair procedure, some shops will offer a temporary patch repair. Regrettably, they rarely inform the client that it is temporary only. For $200.00, they will make repairs like: "Installing Oversized Drain Plugs," Install Rubber Expandable Drain Plug," "Drilling & Installing a Heli-Coil." While these may temporarily work, if they fail, and they do. The engine's oil will come out, and the engine will fail. The result is an engine replacement of $ 4,000.00 and more.

Customer charged for incomplete repairs and owner is unresponsive

Business reply on Google

I am sorry to hear you feel our service did not meet or exceed your expectations. Your 2003 Ford with 185,000 Miles did have multiple failures when we saw your vehicle. We correctly tested your van using a Bore-Scope (small camera) into the intake manifold. We emailed you the captured video showing the engine coolant leaking into the engine cylinder. We advise you that this engine design is notorious for both the intake and the cylinder heads gasket failing and allowing coolant into the engine. We further discussed that the first step is to remove and inspect the intake manifold. If the problem is in the intake manifold, this would need to be replaced and then retested. It was failed, and the plastic was utterly corroded were we sourced the leak. The other option was to rebuild the entire engine or cylinder heads at the same time at a substantial cost, and you declined this option. After our repair, every onboard monitor ran to completion except for the Evaporative and Catalyst systems, both unrelated to the repairs we performed. No further misfires were present, and the vehicle was no longer experiencing the failures we repaired. You had concerns after the repair and were to provi

Technician failed to replace oil drain plug washer causing oil leak

Business reply on Google

Rhonda Felten, We are sorry to hear you had to contend with an oil leak. The "crush washer" is not serviced with the oil service. These are reused and checked for proper sealing after the initial repairs. We understand and appreciate it is frustrating to have it leak two weeks later. We certainly do not anticipate this type of failure. Our invoice today stated: "Upon inspection verified oil at the full mark when vehicle received. Verified the drain plug gasket is leaking. Replaced oil drain plug gasket. Cleaned area and replenish oil ." When oil leaks, many times while it may look like a lot when it spreads out on the ground, the loss is not distinguishable. I believe the staff performed excellently as the timestamps show the warranty concern addressed, and you were in and out in 36 minutes.

Shop charged for diagnosis despite knowing the repair was under warranty.

Business reply on Google

I am sorry you feel our services fell short of your expectations. “On a Holiday weekend, down from LA and after numerous shops did not even call you back to help with your request to diagnose your vehicle's needs" we were able to take you in and do the necessary testing. It is regrettable that a Volvo dealership would make such an unprofessional assumption and misguide you. We were able to get your vehicle in, have an ASE Certified Master Technician run the needing testing and determine the failure. We determined the specific failure should be under a warranty and did not recommend repairs to be done by us. We discounted the time spent by the technician to help you out and in essence billed you for an “Office Visit” and referred you to Volvo. We do not know the fault of any vehicle when it arrives until we spend time to test it. Testing is actual time spent, which is billable. The true integrity of a shop is when they determine the fault, research the repair and determines it should be under warranty they make that call and do the right thing, as we did.
