Poor workmanship and unresolved mechanical issues following expensive engine replacement.

Business reply on Google

We understand your frustration and want to provide context for others reading this review. We had extensive discussions with you prior to this post, attempting to address your concerns. Your Volkswagen Tiguan came to us for the very first time with a blown engine at just 89,000 miles, which typically results from a lack of maintenance. At your request, we replaced the engine with a used engine due to cost considerations, not a new one. A few months after the replacement, we corrected an oil leak that developed — free of charge — demonstrating our commitment to addressing legitimate issues. The used engine warranty covers engine internals only; it does not cover existing or transferred components. Additionally, if there had been any workmanship defects in our engine replacement, they would have appeared immediately, not months or years later. We stand by the quality of our work, and as with any vehicle, ongoing maintenance is the responsibility of the owner.

Vehicle was broken into and personal property was stolen by staff.

Business reply on Google

Deryn, we’re truly sorry for the distressing experience you had. The safety and security of our customers’ vehicles is extremely important to us, and while the break-in was outside of our control, we recognize that our initial response fell short of your expectations. This situation is unprecedented for our location and we were in shock! We understand how upsetting this situation was and regret that you left feeling disrespected. We’ve since been in touch with you directly to address your concerns and are taking steps to ensure we respond with greater urgency and care in situations like this.

The business attempted to charge for unnecessary vehicle testing.

Business reply on Google

I’m sorry to hear you were unhappy with your visit, but I’d like to clarify what happened. You came to us because your battery was dying often. Our initial electrical test — which you approved — showed a 5-amp power draw after the car sat for 30 minutes. That’s an abnormal reading. We recommended a parasitic draw test to pinpoint the cause, which is an additional service, and you declined it. You mentioned in your review that the dealership found no issues. We spoke with them and confirmed you paid for their testing — so you were okay paying for a testing service only to be told there’s nothing wrong, when our results clearly showed there was. While the dealership may not have seen the issue during their check, the draw we found can absolutely cause a dead battery. We don’t invent problems — we report what we find and give our customers the choice on how to proceed. In this case, the issue was there, but without the additional testing, the exact source couldn’t be identified.

Business charges high prices and fails to disclose full repair needs.

Business reply on Google

Michelle and Keith, We’re disappointed to see an unfair review like this, especially when it leaves out some critical details. Let’s set the record straight. Your first visit in August, the vehicle arrived with a catastrophic failure of your cooling fans. The cooling fan motor destroyed the vehicles radiator subsequently. There were other items identified outside of the main scope of work. All recommendations were approved and completed. You did have to make a follow up visit a week after these initial repairs were completed. We needed to make an adjustment to the hood latch and top off the coolant that was a pint low. We apologize for the follow up visit, from time to time adjustments need to be made after a large repair. Your third visit in October there was a concern of a squeak. We identified this as a failing water pump. Work was declined and vehicle driven home. Let’s be blunt: we’re a business, but we’re also auto repair professionals who’ve built a reputation on quality service and honesty. We stake our livelihoods on customer satisfaction, repeat business, and word-of-mouth referrals—not on nickel-and-diming. If we truly “just wanted money,” we wouldn’t have a loyal custom

The business charged significantly higher prices than a competitor for repairs.

Business reply on Google

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your recent experience. At ER Autocare, we strive to provide quality service using high-grade parts and skilled labor, and our pricing reflects that commitment. We understand that cost comparisons are important, and while other shops may offer different rates, the quality of parts, service warranty, and technician expertise can vary. Vinnie, You did state the cost was higher than anticipated. When we discussed the scope of work needed to repair your vehicle, we discussed that we were going to original equipment parts which did increase the repair cost. We understand there are many choices out there for auto repair. We are happy to give you their price when they give you our service!
