You can be billed for time or complexity. The number of concerns that you had in your visit did warrant a higher service code. I'd advise you to take a hard look at medical coding guidelines, as we were well within guidelines for what we coded. It was clear after talking with your insurance company (who apologized on your behalf) that you don't want to pay the bill --- your insurance company agreed. Additionally, there was never an admission of midcoding. We wish you the best of luck with your next provider.
