Staff denied gym access and harassed member over unsigned waiver
Business reply on Google
Hi Ahlame, we are sorry if you felt this way, and we assure you this doesn't ever happen and it seems like there was a HUGE misunderstanding with your billing, since you never added a credit card on file and no waiver was signed, as our front desk tried to explain to you. You were allowed to workout but after 10 days you we couldn't hold off on you not signing the waiver and updating billing. Nonetheless, we take accusations like this seriously. Our service and reputation has been amongst the best in the industry the past 27 years. If you would like to reach out to further discuss please reach out to [email protected]. Thank you.
Poor facility maintenance and lack of staff supervision.

Josh, Sorry you feel that way. Towels are unfortunately not provided anymore post covid. Our hair dryer was out of order, new ones were ordered and installed. If someone breaks it (doesn't really happen) we replace it as fast as we can. We don't control shipping and labor schedules. As far as the showers, they work fine. Anyone is free to come by to check and get a tour. If you are referring to our soap dispensers, two are being ordered and replaced. It is middle of summer and our maintenance person is away on vacation. So it may take a few more days. We don't have any record of complaints in the Sauna by you, we have signage posted for club rules and etiquette which mostly everyone follows. If you feel there is a better club that provides better service, and has better amenities, you are free to go there. We are affordable, have free classes, free parking, sauna, showers, personal training, massage therapy and more. Our employees aren't perfect, our club isn't perfect, but we have been servicing the community in Astoria since 1999. I'm sure if what you said was all true, we wouldn't have lasted this long. We are successful and run a mostly efficient and pleasant club in a tough in
Management refuses to waive cancellation fees despite customer relocation.
Business reply on Google
Fabio, You signed a 12 month contract and joined in January. Deadline to cancel? What does that even mean, you signed up for a 1 year contract, not sure why you would commit to 12 months when you knew you were moving or there was a possibility to move. You could have done a non contract option where there is a 30 day notice to cancel. It seems like you are confused how contracts work. You wanted to pay less and get the benefits to cancel anytime, which isn't what a contract is. If you do move, we provide our members with an opportunity to show us proof of a utility bill with your name on it at the new address (which you did not provide, so you are lying). There's no Manager named Ezra here and you clearly didn't submit proper proof. Seems like you can't provide proof and are upset. Next time don't do a contract if you don't understand the terms. We work with many people who move and have no issues almost 99 percent of the time and are very reasonable. Good luck.
gym continues charging membership fees despite multiple cancellation requests
Business reply on Google
You stopped coming for months and expect us to know if you are attending or not. This is pretty silly, we have thousands of members. It is your responsibility to cancel, or stay motivated. Unless you are doing training with us, or asking us in person, we can't motivate you or know your gym habits. Also, we don't make it difficult. You were not under contract, it is a simple 30 day notice by email and/or in person with a Manager afternoon/evening. You forgot to cancel and refused to pay, so you are upset. You emailed and we responded you owe 2 months. Before we could resolve or fix anything for you, you chose the route of writing a negative review (when it is your responsibility to cancel). We always work with members/customers. Sad you would do this for no reason other than to try to get out of paying. Good luck.
gym refused to refund unused membership time or provide drinking water

Hi Paul, Firstly it is curious you edited a previous 5 star review 2 months after you have last been here and cancelled. We are a little blindsided that you would behave this way and voice displeasure without a single moment to reach out to us and voice this to us. Not sure where all of this is coming from, we have nothing on file on your account saying you would be leaving for months or half a year, if you had expressed this to us, we would have told you to rejoin when you came back. You chose a yearly paid up front membership, of which we never raised the rate for you for years, even when it went up. But you switched to a monthly membership in March 2023, which can only be frozen once a year. Everything was explained to you clearly and explicitly. We do so with every member or potential member and have no reason to mislead or lie. We are a business that has been here since 1999, we have no reason to act how you are falsely representing us as. So in terms of being unwilling or unable to work with you, there was no communication on your end about this. You were on freeze 1 month (we only allow 30 days freeze once a year), then you promptly cancelled. You let us know on 5/17/23 (4 d

Chris, You had a non Queens/Astoria address, we do not give free passes to anyone that walks in. I would like to direct you to our website, where does it state we give passes to someone in Manhattan? You do know none of the aformentioned places would give you a pass either? Passes are reserved for local Astoria residents, who can submit proof of address, which you did not do. Sorry we put our members and residents first. A big reason why we aren't broken down, crowded or messy. Our members are people who can comfortably work out, in a relaxed, spacious, clean environment. Best of luck to you.
difficult cancellation process and rude management regarding billing issues

Dear Merauder, We donβt see anyone under your name in our system, and your other reviews are all private. Having said that if you are/were a member, we appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear that you had a negative experience at our club. We take all feedback seriously and are constantly working to improve our services: 1.As far as affordability, for a modern private gym, with no crowds, we are the most affordable gym. No gym in the area has our cleanliness, service, free parking, free group fitness classes, a full personal training team, Sauna, massage therapy and so much more for our prices. 2.Regarding what you said about parking, we have tons of free off street parking, safe, with round the clock security. Our parking lot is hardly ever crowded, especially during the day or afternoon. We have two levels of parking, so to say this is misleading, false and simply not true. Additionally, there are alternative transportation options such as Citi bike or an MTA bus can bring anyone right out front of our facility. We also have bike racks for members with their own bikes. 3. We are sorry if you had a negative interaction with our management team. We strive to provide exceptio

Gym charged a fee for a guest pass advertised as free
Business reply on Google
Hesham, sorry you do not agree with our guest policies. Our guest policy was 1 Free guest pass to all local Astoria area residents who are 18 years of age and over. Our members appreciate that they never have a problem finding free off street parking in our lot that has over 200 spots. They also appreciate that they never have to wait for any equipment or classes and can get a great workout without wasting time. If we were to follow your suggestion of free workouts for all NY State residents our club would be very crowed and our loyal members would be quite upset. We have been successfully operating the gym with our guest policy for 23 years. Good luck with your search for a gym to meet your fitness needs.

misleading advertising regarding monthly membership pricing
Business reply on Google
Sorry you felt you had a bad experience. Nowhere on any of our marketing or advertising does it read $20.22 per month. The $ 20.22 was the promotion on our joining fee for the New Year. Clubs that charge low monthly dues are often over crowded, have long waits to use equipment, are untidy , and lack free off street parking. We have none of those problems and charge a little bit more than the high volume low cost clubs. Should you want a free guest pass to see why were worth the difference contact us at [email protected]

Lack of handicap accessibility and poor staff responsiveness to disabled customer
Business reply on Google
Sorry you felt you had a bad experience. You may not be aware the gym has handicap ramp access from 45 th street off of Ditmars Blvd. and 2 large double doors with easy wheelchair access into the gym. We have several wheelchair members and members with disabilities who only joined because of our easy accessibility.
