I had to try and find a Robert Jameson since the name didn't come to my memory immediately. I saw your picture on https://robertjameson.com and remembered who you are. I texted Robert directly over 48 hours ago because this review feels like it is coming out of left field and he has not responded to me directly as of this reply. I am cutting and pasting my text to Robert publicly here: Hey Robert. This is Dave (bald, tattoos), owner at The Old Guard. I woke up to your review on Google this morning and I was taken aback. I figured I’d reach out to you as I can’t recall being anything but kind to you when you trained with us. I invited you into my home for the holidays, I was happy to have you in for an additional month when your job delayed your relocation to the LA area, and I gave you the recommendation to train at TBI on your way out because I know them to be a good gym where you could continue to grow at. Your review almost two years later seems incongruent with my recollection. I’m open to chatting if you have other words to pass on. Well that’s super lame. Buckle up for the response. First, Dad appears to have signed his daughter and wife up for a trial without doing any research, and sent them both in blind. Mom made a point to mention to both me and the trial Coach that her husband signed them up. A quick read on the website and Dad would find that we don’t have a kids program and if you have teens, to reach out so we can discuss if they’re a good fit. I was quite surprised when Mom let me know daughter was 16 years old - 100% of parents that have brought their teens in here have read the necessary info, and called or texted me in advance of booking a trial. Mom asked me what the difference was between BJJ and Muay Thai, which is a fine question, but both appeared to be overwhelmed and unprepared by the entire experience we offer and perhaps didn’t know what we offer at all. A bit of sharing is a lot of caring, Dad. Anyway, I advised Mom that I was happy to introduce both her and Daughter to the sport and we could chat after the trial class on the rest. Mom and Daughter are pleasant enough, but arrived about five minutes prior to class start time with no waivers completed while all appointment reminders advi
