Staff refused to fix maintenance error and behaved unprofessionally

Business reply on Google

Syed, we appreciate that you have been servicing your vehicle with us for the past three years. When a vehicle needs to be rechecked or re diagnosed, it requires technician time, professional equipment, and proper testing procedures. A diagnostic service is not simply a quick look, it is a structured process that ensures the issue is correctly identified. That is why there is a standard diagnostic fee. On your previous visit, a courtesy ten-dollar discount was applied. During your return visit, the diagnostic fee quoted was our standard rate. Our manager was firm in explaining that the service would be billed at the posted rate. We understand that pricing conversations can sometimes be frustrating. However, we stand behind the value of our equipment, training, and expertise, and we apply our pricing consistently to all customers. We wish you the best moving forward. Thanks, The Quality Tune-Up Car Care Team

Staff failed to communicate and left debris in the vehicle.

Business reply on Google

Tamaro, we’re sorry to hear that your visit felt disappointing. That’s not the experience we aim to provide. Our technician did check your vehicle and communicated that the check was complete, placing the keys back inside the car. If that was not clear in the moment, we regret any misunderstanding. Clear communication and professionalism are standards we take seriously and will continue reinforcing with our team. We also strive to keep every vehicle clean and respected while in our care. If something was brought into the vehicle unintentionally, that is certainly not our standard. Although we did not charge for the vehicle check, we understand that the overall experience matters. We remain committed to providing respectful, professional service to every customer who visits us. Thanks, The Quality Tune-Up Car Care Team

Technician failed to tighten the oil drain plug properly

Business reply on Google

E A, we’re very sorry to hear about your experience and understand how concerning it must have been to discover an oil leak shortly after your visit. That is certainly not the experience we want any customer to have. We’ve searched our records at this location and have not been able to locate a recent service under your name. We would truly appreciate the opportunity to look into this further. Please contact us directly at 408-923-5430 and ask for Jemino or Luis. When you call, please provide the name the vehicle was serviced under and the license plate number so we can accurately locate the invoice and review everything thoroughly. We’ve proudly served this community for over 50 years and perform thousands of oil changes annually. While issues can occasionally arise in any industry, situations like this are not typical of our standards or processes. If there was anything related to our service, we absolutely want to make it right and also review it internally to ensure our quality remains consistent. We hope to connect with you soon and work toward a resolution. The Quality Tune Up Car Care Team

The vehicle check engine light returned shortly after the repair service.

Business reply on Google

Raquel, we completely understand how frustrating it is to see a check engine light come on shortly after having repairs done, especially after you just invested in your vehicle. That’s never the experience we want for our customers. When you first came in on March 26, your concern was for intermittant shaking while driving and a noise from the belt. At that time, there was no check engine light on. Because of the drivability concern, we performed a full drivability diagnosis and recommended replacing the spark plugs, ignition coils, and serpentine belt. After those repairs, the vehicle was operating properly. When you returned on March 31 with the check engine light illuminated, we diagnosed it at no charge and found a camshaft sensor fault and timing chain problem. Those components are separate from the previous repairs. With your older vehicle, it’s possible for unrelated issues to surface over time, and sometimes new faults appear after an initial issue has been corrected. We truly value your business and understand your concern. Our goal is always to be transparent, thorough, and to stand behind the work we perform. We’re happy to review everything with you again if needed. Tha

Inconsistent pricing and aggressive staff behavior during oil change service.

Business reply on Google

Abe, we’re sorry you left feeling dissatisfied. We want to clarify the pricing so there is no misunderstanding. Our full synthetic oil change special is $89.95 and includes up to 5 quarts of oil and a standard spin-on oil filter. Certain Toyota Camry models require more than 5 quarts and use a cartridge style oil filter, which carries a higher parts and recycling cost. When a vehicle requires additional oil or a different filter system, the total reflects those specifications. The customer behind you had a vehicle that required less oil and used a standard spin-on filter. She also applied the same $10 discount. Pricing can vary based strictly on the mechanical requirements of each vehicle. We have served this community for many years by being transparent and consistent with our pricing structure. If the explanation during your visit did not feel clear or satisfactory, that is something we will review internally, as respectful communication is important to us. We appreciate your feedback. customers are prioritized based on language spoken

Business reply on Google

Mei-Ling, Thank you for sharing your experience. We do want to clarify that the tire repair truck in a shared parking lot is a completely separate business that is not owned or operated by Quality Tune-Up. We understand the frustration you experienced, but their service practices are not something we control. If you would like your feedback to reach the right team, we encourage posting the review directly to their business profile if available. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you ourselves in the future and provide the level of service our customers expect from us. Thanks, The Quality Tune-Up Car Care Team

The business performed unauthorized work resulting in a higher bill.

Business reply on Google

Thank you for your review, Matt. We’re sorry for the confusion and appreciate the chance to clarify. Most vehicles produced in the last 15 years are recommended to use synthetic or synthetic blend oil per manufacturer recommendations. Honda has been using a synthetic blend 5w20 oil factory fill and oil recommendation since the early 2000's. While we don’t offer conventional (standard) oil, we do offer high mileage oil for older vehicles not previously using synthetic — and always aim to match the right product for your engine’s condition. We also offer the option for customers to bring their own oil, and we’ll perform the service using that product for a labor-only charge. We understand the importance of clear communication and will continue working to ensure customers are fully informed before work begins. We appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to serve you. Thanks, The Quality Tune Up Car Care Team

Staff refused promised services and displayed rude behavior.

Business reply on Google

Partho, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear about the frustration with your visit. Our fluid check and top-off service is complimentary with any paid service, but in this case, no service was performed or charged. You arrived later in the afternoon on a Saturday when our schedule was already fully booked for the day. We were able to have your tire rotation accommodated by the tire shop next door; however, due to the timing and our booked status, we couldn’t provide the additional request that day. We operate on a first-come, first-served basis, and unfortunately, we wouldn’t have been able to accommodate that service on a busy Saturday afternoon. We appreciate your understanding and will use your feedback to ensure our communication is clear when customers call ahead. Thanks, The Quality Tune Up Car Care Team

Incompetent repairs and poor customer service at car repair shop.

Business reply on Google

Tamara, we're sorry to hear you were disappointed, and we appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns here as well. As shared previously, your son brought in his Volkswagen for rear brake service. We also inspected the front brakes, which were worn, and performed an oil change. As part of our standard checklist, we checked the coolant level, and there were no signs of overheating at the time. When the vehicle returned a few days later with an overheating issue unrelated to the services performed, we waived our standard diagnostic fee as a courtesy. After identifying a failed cooling fan, we quoted just one hour of labor and priced the part well below retail—offering to complete the repair for $500, which is significantly less than the standard $600-700 cost for that job. We’ve proudly served this community for 49 years and have built a strong reputation for honest, quality service on all makes and models—including German vehicles. In fact, the owner of this location personally drives Mercedes and BMW vehicles and is very familiar with their systems. We never cut corners, cause damage, or suggest unnecessary repairs. We’re truly disappointed to hear we’ve lost your trust and

Vehicle damaged during service and shop refused to accept responsibility

Business reply on Google

Serafin, we’re sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate the opportunity to respond. Your Volkswagen was brought in for brake service, and we also completed an oil change. As part of our standard checklist, we checked all fluid levels, including coolant. At the time of service, there were no signs of overheating or driveability concerns. When the vehicle returned a few days later with an overheating issue unrelated to the services performed, we waived our standard diagnostic fee as a courtesy. We identified a failed cooling fan and offered to complete the repair for $500—well below the standard $700 cost. This included selling the part under retail and quoting just one hour of labor instead of the standard two. We made this offer to help you out, as a returning customer, even though the repair was not related to the previous brake and oil change service. We also want to clarify that we warranty our work for 12 months or 12,000 miles on the services we perform. However, new or unrelated mechanical issues that arise after service are not covered under that warranty. Despite this, we still went out of our way to diagnose the issue and offer a discounted repair to support you.

Mechanic performed a test on a known non-compliant vehicle for profit.

Business reply on Google

Misael, we understand your frustration and appreciate you sharing your concerns. It’s important to clarify that, by law, once a vehicle is presented to us for a smog inspection, we are required by the State of California to proceed with the test in the condition it is received. Under California BAR regulation section 3340.45, we must test and report the results, even if we notice a visual issue like a non-original catalytic converter. We don’t have discretion to stop the test once the process has begun, and we cannot “pre-inspect” or make assumptions about whether a vehicle will pass. We’re simply following state law, not trying to be unfair or misleading. We know smog checks can be frustrating, especially when unexpected issues arise, and we’re always available to explain test results or walk customers through what comes next. If you’d like to speak further about your visit, we’re here to help. Please feel free to contact the shop directly. Thanks, The Quality Tune Up Car Care Team

Vehicle experienced multiple mechanical failures following recent maintenance services.

Business reply on Google

Ivan, thank you for your feedback. After reviewing our records, we confirmed your visit on January 2, 2025. During that service, your 2016 Honda Civic received an automatic transmission fluid exchange, coolant fluid exchange, serpentine belt replacement, valve cover gasket replacement, spark plug replacement, and an oil change. The spark plug and fluid replacements were recommended based on Honda’s mileage and time-based maintenance schedule. The serpentine belt showed multiple visible cracks per inch, indicating it was worn and due for replacement. The valve cover gasket replacement was recommended after we observed a visible oil leak. The following day, we completed a starter replacement to resolve a no-start issue. While the timing was understandably inconvenient, the starter was functioning properly when the vehicle was in our possession and worked when you picked up your vehicle and drove it home after the initial service. Since the starter was not damaged as a result of our work, we did not cover the tow bill. Lastly, regarding your mention of coolant—please note that the coolant fluid exchange is part of the engine’s cooling system, which is separate from the air conditionin

Technician attempted to charge more than the quoted price for service.

Business reply on Google

Philip, thanks for your feedback. We're glad the service met your expectations and appreciate you pointing out the pricing mix-up. We do have an everyday price and a separate coupon price, which must be mentioned or presented at the time of service to apply. We’re happy our team honored the quoted rate and will use this as a reminder to improve clarity moving forward. We value your business and hope to see you again! Technician lacked knowledge and damaged the vehicle air conditioning line.

Business reply on Google

Daniel, Thank you for your feedback. We understand your frustration regarding the air conditioning service. However, the damage to your line existed prior to your visit. We want to assure you that we use OEM equivalent replacement parts, which come with a 12-month, 12,000-mile warranty, rather than parts from retailers like AutoZone. It will always be cheaper to purchase lower quality parts and install yourself than to pay someone to do it professionally. We appreciate your input as it helps us improve our services. If you have any further concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thanks, The Quality Tune Up Car Care Team

excessive wait time and unnecessary upselling attempts

Business reply on Google

Dear Karrie, We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced during your visit. Our policy is to service vehicles on a first-in, first-out basis. Unfortunately, there was a vehicle on the service bay lift that required completion before we could attend to your car. Additionally, we had to move another vehicle onto the lift as your vehicle would have obstructed the entrance while undergoing the smog check. We are committed to providing efficient service and will review our procedures with our team to prevent future occurrences. Thank you for your understanding and for bringing this matter to our attention. Your feedback is invaluable to us. Thanks, The Quality Tune Up Car Care Team

mechanic intentionally damaged vehicle components to solicit additional repairs

Business reply on Google

William, We are very disappointed to see this review. We would not damage our 48-year reputation over an additional oil change. We pointed out your leaking oil filter almost immediately after opening your hood and showed it to you. You told us your friend had performed your last oil change. We then cleaned up the fresh oil and diagnosed your valve cover gasket was also leaking with evidence of longer-term build up. We would like to discuss this further, please either email us at [email protected] or contact our location at 408-923-5430. We wish you the best with your car care needs.
